Nowadays, almost all service areas provide an overview of their service online. This makes it easier for end users to search and compare and encourages them to choose. So, to make library books more attractive to readers, you first need to make them easier to find and read. The absence of the need for a long stay in the premises, physical search for the copy the user needs, manual in-spection, and comparison saves time and motivates the reader to use library services. However, most libraries do not have modern electronic resources, and their catalogs are outdated and poorly functional. To maintain their role in the digital age, libraries need to update themselves and offer convenient electronic catalogs and other online services to better meet the needs of modern readers and the standard in other areas of services. The goal of the study is to update library services for better interaction with readers: simplify catalogs, and offer convenient searches, recommendations, bookmarks, and online returns. Several authoritative Ukrainian electronic libraries, as well as one accessible foreign one, were considered. Almost every one of them is designed for interaction with the reader who has a reader card. Also, the problem is that all of them only state the fact that the book is in the library. Because of this, finding the necessary book becomes more difficult, which does not give advantages in using the catalog. Therefore, it is recommended to improve the service to implement all the key functionality of analogs, improve search and navigation in the catalog, supplement it with a system of recommendations, and for better interaction with readers - a debt control system that will sim-plify the control, receipt, and return of the book, with the possibility of reminders. A list of software requirements to support library work is proposed. The business processes that should be improved in the first place are described. Recommendations are provided for the se-lection of technical solutions for development.
